  1. Dash of Dry and Sweet Vermouth
  2. 2 oz American Whiskey
  3. Garnish with lemon twist or olive

The orginal Manhattan was made with a dash of bitters.  Today it is usually left out because of its strong flavor.

This is a perfect Manhattan. I use a full ounce measure as one part. My whiskey preference is Jack Daniel’s but rye whiskey is traditional.

3 parts Jack Daniel’s Old #7 (whiskey of your choice)
    ½ part dry French vermouth
    ½ part red French vermouth
    Dash of Angostura Bitters

Stir and chill over several large ice cubes, strain into a classic cocktail glass.
Serve with a twist of lemon

Good recipe. This is the way it was made years ago. Most American bartenders don’t use bitters unless requested by the customer.

[..YouTube..] The Twist is correct too. Because the Perfect is already sweet.
