[..YouTube..] According to the inventer of the Mai Tai Trader Vics this is NOT the recipe. THIS is the ORIGINAL recipe: 2 ounces 17-year-old J. Wray Nephew Jamaican rum
1/2 ounce French Garnier Orgeat (almond syrup)
1/2 ounce Holland DeKuyper Orange Curacao (triple sec)
    1/4 ounce Rock Candy Syrup
    juice from one fresh (key)lime

Hand shake and garnish with half of the lime shell inside the drink and float a sprig of fresh mint at the edge of the glass.

[..YouTube..] Ditto, grenadine is a common spoiler of Mai Tais, along with orange and pineapple juices.

[..YouTube..] Yes, I agree with Trader Vic’s original version.
Use orange curacao not triple sec. Orgeat not almond liquor, lime juice period. No OJ, Pineapple juice or grenadine. Don’t forget the fresh mint.
